- R. C. primary school celebrated its 150th year on 28 April 2016.
- Those days only Malayala medium schools existed. This school was started for the Tamil speaking people.
- This school was started in the year 1865 and was recognized by the government on 12 August 1947.R. C. L. P. S. (Roman Catholic Lower Primary School)
- It was under Kollam Diocese during the period of Travancore king.
- This school was situated in the beginning at Punnainagar to Kurusady road.
- Later St.Judes shrine and Our Lady of Lourdes complex were built in that place.
- For the new school foundation was laid on 15 May 1964 by the Most. Rev. T. R. Angiswami D. D. and was inaugurated on 23 August 1970. During the period Rev. Fr. Anthony Muthu was the director and late was the Bishop of Vellore diocese.
- This school built by the people of Punnai Nagar was named R.C. Primary School.
- When the headmaster Mr. Gana Prakasam got retirement, Servite sisters took charge of the school.
